Our Thesis
TITOFF is a Frankfurt-based design studio dedicated to precise, material-driven product design. We create objects that are built to last — functional in use, enduring in character, and quiet in their presence.
We believe good design does not need to be loud. It should work with clarity, carry weight without demanding attention, and improve with age rather than lose relevance. Our design language is deliberately reduced. It does not follow trends. It expresses a commitment to the timeless over the temporary.
Every piece we make is developed with the same rigour applied to buildings meant to stand for generations — because we believe the objects within those spaces deserve the same standard. We work only with resilient materials like brass and cast metal, chosen for their ability to age with character rather than lose value.
From the first sketch to the finished piece, every decision is guided by the same principle: substance over spectacle.
Design that lasts. In space. In use. In memory.
Our History
TITOFF was born from architecture. Founded in 2004 by Christoph Mäckler within his Frankfurt practice Mäckler Architekten, the studio grew out of a simple frustration: that the objects filling carefully considered spaces were rarely held to the same standards as the spaces themselves.
What began as an in-house design effort to solve that gap has since grown into an independent studio. Over the years, TITOFF has developed designs across luminaires, door handles, shelving systems, partition systems, and more — each piece guided by the same material conviction and formal rigour that defined its origins.
Some of our earliest luminaires have been in place for over twenty years — in landmark buildings across Germany. Still functioning, still relevant. A quiet proof of what we have always believed: that the right object, made the right way, does not need to be replaced.
Over two decades, TITOFF has remained a family-run business. Close to its craft, close to its clients, and deliberate in its growth. We have never designed for volume. We have designed for permanence.
